Turner School of Construction Management - 2012 Program in Oakland [download application]

The next Turner School of Construction Management course begins May 1st in Oakland. We are thrilled that Union Bank, East Bay Municipal Utility District, and Builder’s Exchange of Alameda County are sponsoring the training program in Oakland. Deadline to submit applications is April 13th.

Classes are on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00 to 8:30 PM with a graduation scheduled for June 19th (see attached brochure and application form for more information).
Individuals enrolled in the program gain insights and meaningful tools that help them target their business for quality and growth while, at the same time, develop new strategic business relationships. In addition to the opportunity to take a course at NO COST, each participant will receive the following benefits:

  • Instruction by industry experts – Turner key staff and/or industry experts instruct all of the classes.
  • A “Certification of Achievement” signed by program sponsors for successfully completing the program (presented at a graduation ceremony and only after attending a minimum of nine classes).
  • Seven weeks of networking opportunities with other program participants and key Turner staff.
    Describe fundamentals of estimating and effective methods for locating, obtaining, managing and scheduling work.
  • Understand key concepts of contract management.
  • Hands on group exercises in estimating and scheduling that offer participants real life work experience.

Event: Industry Forums: High-Speed Rail Meet the Primes Event
Description: The California High-Speed Rail Authority is hosting a Meet the Primes Event on May 17, 2012 at the Icardo Center on the California State University Bakersfield campus. This forum is an opportunity for Small Businesses and subcontractors to meet the five design-build short listed teams who were invited to bid on the first design-build construction project. After a presentation on the project by the California High-Speed Rail Authority, each short-listed firm will host a booth in the exhibition area to meet with potential Small Businesses and subcontractors.
When: May 17, 2012
Registration: 7:30am - 8:30am
Program and Presentation: 8:30 a.m. -10:00 a.m.
Meet the Primes Networking: 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Networking Recommendations: Due to the number of attendees expected, we encourage all attendees to bring handouts highlighting your business.
