SOUTH BAY FREEWAY LANDSCAPES TO BE CLEARED NEXT WEEK

Moving Lane Closures May Affect Traffic

Caltrans Maintenance crews will clear and cut brush along South Bay freeways and along on and off-ramps next week between 10 AM and 3 PM weekdays beginning Monday, March 19 (weather permitting). This major clean-up effort will use a moving lane closure progressing about two to five miles per hour in the slow lane and on entrance and exit ramps. The closure may stretch for up to half a mile and close ramps temporarily.

Thirteen pieces of equipment will be used in the effort, including a crash vehicle to protect workers, a delineator to direct motorists away from the closure, and hedgers, sweepers and loaders. Workers will remain in their vehicles to protect them from traffic. All operations will be performed using mechanized equipment.

In January, two Caltrans employees were severely injured during landscape operations in Santa Clara County when an errant driver entered the work zone. They were both standing behind their truck loading debris.

Please allow extra time if traveling these corridors and please slow for the cone zone.
