Update on Lombardi Spring Closure
At the direction of the California Department of Health Services, Caltrans has closed the Lombardi Spring well. The well is located along Highway 92 near Half Moon Bay. The well is a local landmark, but does not directly supply any homes with drinking water.
Recent tests have shown the bacterial quality of the water does not meet the drinking water standard specified in the California Domestic Water Quality and Monitoring Regulations. The water tested positive for both e-coli bacteria and coliform bacteria.
Lombardi Spring cannot be re-opened unless further testing is done to determine the origin of the contamination. The spring will remain closed while Caltrans reviews its options.
Caltrans crews capped the well, and have posted signs at the well notifying residents of the closure.
