OFFICE OF INFORMATION SERVICES’ primary function is to provide Information Technology (IT) support to District 4 staff and HQ staff geographically located in District 4. IT support includes application development, hardware and software procurement and maintenance for: desktop computers, engineering CADD (computer-aided design and drafting) workstations, servers, local area networks, (LANs), and telecommunications equipment and services. The Office oversees all District 4 IT projects, monitors IT standards and approves all procurement justifications for hardware, software, and telecommunications equipment and services. The Office has a Help Desk function as a central point of contact to request and track IT service requests. Requests include most IT services ranging from installing and repairing personal computers (PCs) and peripherals, CADD workstation support, network services, server administration, to coordination of Video Teleconferencing and the use of our Computer Training Facility. In addition, D4-IT coordinates with Headquarters IT on mainframe services, Lotus Notes e-mail and the Caltrans Wide Area Network (WAN).
