Route 84 (Woodside Road) Slide Repair Project

This project is a storm damage repair project which will involve constructing a tieback wall along the westbound direction at the edge of the shoulder on Route 84 in San Mateo County within the Town of Woodside at Post Mile Marker 22.1 near the intersection of Southgate Road and approximately 0.6 miles north of the Route 280/84 separation. The project will also include the removal of approximately 17 trees and or bushes that will be replaced with a ratio of 3 to 1 of the same type of trees that were removed. (Oaks & Redwoods)
At this location it is proposed to repair a slope failure at the edge of the shoulder of the westbound lane of Route 84 with a tieback retaining wall. The retaining wall will be 193 feet long and 43 feet in height. This project will also involve asphalt overlay. Metal beam guardrails and transition railings will be installed at each end of the wall.
Construction started August, 2012 and is expected to be completed by late winter, 2012. Plant establishment until (July 2014)
This $1.3 million dollar project is funded with Federal and State funds. The prime contractor is Robert A. Bothman
This project will prevent further failing of the roadway. All four lanes of traffic will still be accessible to the traveling public throughout construction by shifting traffic into the median.
Changeable Message and construction signs will be in place to help guide motorist.
