Yuba City - The
California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is alerting motorists that
DeSilva-Gates, a contractor for Caltrans, will be grinding the existing
pavement, laying and compacting new asphalt starting Monday, April 21st. The pavement construction is scheduled to
last approximately 21 days (paving is dependent on temperature) and is part of
a $14.7 million operation improvement project on Highway 99. This construction will complete the improvements
and replace damaged asphalt along Highway 99 between Lincoln Road and Highway 20.
The
contractor is expected to start on the south end of the project at Lincoln Road and
work north to Highway 20 in segments.
The night work will begin at approximately 7:00 p.m. and end by 5:00
a.m. In order to limit the night work,
grinding of the existing pavement will occur during the evening hours with the
asphalt paving and compaction occurring during the day. No weekend work is scheduled.
The
construction work will require closing one or more traffic lanes throughout the
area under construction. Local travelers
are encouraged to find alternate routes around the construction to limit drive
times and congestion.
Caltrans
reminds motorists to use caution and “Slow for the Cone Zone” during work hours
and to be alert for personnel and equipment entering and exiting the work area.
