Caltrans to Host Public Open Houses to Answer Questions

About the I-5 Boat Section Repair Project

Sacramento - The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) recently announced plans to repair a portion of Interstate 5 (I-5) through downtown Sacramento known as the “Boat Section.” Caltrans hired contractor C.C. Myers, Inc. of Rancho Cordova to repair this stretch of I-5, affecting nearly 190,000 drivers daily. The plan calls for significant lane and ramp closures in downtown Sacramento between the U.S. Highway 50/Capitol City Freeway interchange and Richards Blvd. The project is expected to start May 30 and last about seven weeks. This is significantly faster than originally projected schedule thanks to innovative construction strategies approved by Caltrans and initiated by C.C. Myers.

Caltrans and the City of Sacramento are hosting three open houses to inform businesses and residents about the expedited construction plan. The public is invited to attend any of the open houses to learn more about the project and commute alternatives, and to have questions answered.
