GOLD RUN REST AREAS CLOSED FOR
CONSTRUCTION
Colfax – The
California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announced today the east and
westbound Gold Run Safety Roadside Rest Areas (SRRA) on Interstate 80, approximately
seven miles east of Colfax, will be closed March 31, for a construction project
to rehabilitate the rest areas.
The contractor, Flintco Inc. from
Folsom, will begin work on the $3.4 million project to remove the existing
restroom buildings and construct new ones improving accessibility for all users
as mandated by the Americans with Disabilities Act. The project will also help maintain
consistent levels of service, appearance and safety. Informational kiosks will also be
renovated. Construction will start in
April and the project is scheduled for completion in 2009.
During construction, motorists can
access the east and westbound Donner Summit SRRA’s located 36 miles east of the
Gold Run SRRA’s.
