GOLD RUN REST AREAS CLOSED FOR CONSTRUCTION

Colfax – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announced today the east and westbound Gold Run Safety Roadside Rest Areas (SRRA) on Interstate 80, approximately seven miles east of Colfax, will be closed March 31, for a construction project to rehabilitate the rest areas.

The contractor, Flintco Inc. from Folsom, will begin work on the $3.4 million project to remove the existing restroom buildings and construct new ones improving accessibility for all users as mandated by the Americans with Disabilities Act.  The project will also help maintain consistent levels of service, appearance and safety.  Informational kiosks will also be renovated.  Construction will start in April and the project is scheduled for completion in 2009.

During construction, motorists can access the east and westbound Donner Summit SRRA’s located 36 miles east of the Gold Run SRRA’s.
