LANE CLOSURE NECESSARY FOR INSTALLATION OF MEDIAN BARRIER NEAR ROUNDABOUTS ON STATE HIGHWAY 89

TRUCKEE - The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is alerting motorists to expect the north and southbound #1 lane closed on Monday, May 22, 2006 from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on State Highway 89 near the Truckee Roundabouts.

The lane closure is necessary in order for Caltrans crews to install median barriers at the piles (columns) that support Interstate 80, located in-between the roundabouts on State Highway 89. The barriers are a necessary safety device to protect the freeway piles and lessen the impact in the event of a traffic collision.

Motorists are advised to expect delays and to be alert for equipment and workers on the roadway and to "Slow For The Cone Zone".
