CALTRANS TO PRESENT ADOPT-A-HIGHWAY VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR AWARD
MARYSVILLE
– The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) Adopt-A-Highway Program will honor the Rancho Cordova Elks Lodge the Volunteer of the Year award for their outstanding efforts in keeping a portion of U.S. Highway 50 clean. The group has been picking up litter along U.S. Highway 50 from between Hazel Blvd. and Folsom Blvd. and has been extremely conscientious in maintaining this area.The award will be presented to the Rancho Cordova Elks Lodge tomorrow (Friday) at 6 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 1144 Elks Circle, Rancho Cordova.
Caltrans launched the Adopt-A-Highway Program in October of 1989 and today there are more than 4,200 adoptions statewide with waiting lists on prime locations. Volunteers pick up letter from approximately 7,800 miles of highway, more that half of the State’s highway system.
