RAMP METERS TO BE ACTIVATED AT 11th, 16th AND 28th STREETS ON-RAMPS TO EB US HIGHWAY 50 DURING MORNING HOURS.
SACRAMENTO - The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announced today commuters using the eastbound on-ramps to board eastbound U.S. Highway 50 from 11th, 16th and 28th Streets in Sacramento will be subject to weekday ramp metering from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. beginning Monday, February 27. These ramps have already been metered in the afternoon hours.
Ramp metering allows vehicles to safely merge with freeway traffic and at the same time helps reduce traffic congestion. Currently, there are 88 ramp meters in operation in the Sacramento area.
