RAMP METERS TO BE ACTIVATED AT MACE BLVD. AND INTERSTATE 80 IN DAVIS
DAVIS - The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announced today commuters using the southbound and northbound Mace Blvd. on-ramps to board eastbound Interstate 80 will be subject to ramp metering from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. beginning Monday, February 27.
Vehicles with two or more persons can use a special carpool lane on the southbound and northbound Mace Blvd. on-ramps, which allows them to bypass the ramp meter signals when they are activated.
Ramp metering allows vehicles to safely merge with freeway traffic and at the same time helps to reduce traffic congestion. Currently, there are 88 ramp meters in operation in the Sacramento area.
