Meridian Bridge to Swing Open for Inspection
Meridian - The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announced today that motorists traveling on State Highway 20 in Colusa and Sutter Counties will be subject to delays while Caltrans crews swing open the Meridian Bridge over the Sacramento River for inspection on Friday, January 27.
The bridge will be opened between 10 a.m. and 12 noon and motorists can expect delays of up to 20 minutes. Built in 1977 to replace a previous bridge that burned down, the swinging, turntable bridge is closed only once a year for annual inspection and routine maintenance.
Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes during the closure.
