RAMP METERS TO BE ACTIVATED AT MADISON AVENUE AND INTERSTATE 80 IN SACRAMENTO

SACRAMENTO - Commuters using the Westbound and Eastbound Madison on-ramps to board Westbound Interstate 80 will be subject to ramp metering from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. beginning Monday, May 9th.

Ramp metering allows vehicles to safely merge with freeway traffic and at the same time helps to reduce traffic congestion.

Vehicles with two or more persons can use a special carpool lane on the Madison Avenue slip on-ramp, which allows them to bypass the ramp meter signals when they are activated. Currently, there are 74 ramp meters in operation in the Sacramento area.
