TRAFFIC TO BE SHIFTED AND LANES NARROWED ON I-80 IN PLACER COUNTY
Marysville -- The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announced today that due to center median work, traffic will be shifted and lanes will be narrowed from 12 feet to 11 feet between Blue Canyon and Alta. The lane shifts are necessary to accommodate median reconstruction, new Portland Concrete Cement (PCC) pavement and slabs, and new concrete median barriers. The lane shifts are scheduled as follows:
Monday, 4/25/05
Tuesday, 4/26/05
Motorists are advised to drive with caution in these areas since the traffic shifts will eliminate the right shoulders. Westbound traffic needs to be especially careful due to steep downgrades. Caltrans urges all motorists to use caution in this construction area and to "Slow for the Cone Zone".
The lane shifts are expected to remain in place until mid July at which time traffic shifts to the left are expected.
Caltrans is a department within the Business, Transportation and Housing Agency that operates and maintains California's transportation system under the direction of Secretary Sunne Wright McPeak and Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
