FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
RAMP METERS TO BE ACTIVATED AT HAZEL AVENUE AND HIGHWAY 50 IN RANCHO CORDOVA
Rancho Cordova - Commuters using north or southbound Hazel Avenue to board Westbound U.S. Highway 50 will be subject to ramp metering from 3 p.m. - 6 p.m. beginning Monday, March 7th.
Ramp metering allows vehicles to safely merge with freeway traffic and at the same time helps to reduce traffic congestion.
Vehicles with two or more persons can use a special carpool lane on the Southbound Hazel Avenue on-ramp, which allows them to bypass the ramp meter signals when they are activated. Currently, there are 72 ramp meters in operation in the Sacramento area.
