Caltrans Evaluating Boulder

on US50 in El Dorado County

Marysville:  The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) closed one eastbound lane of US50 in El Dorado County just east of Pollock Pines today at approximately 2:00 p.m.

A boulder on the slope above the roadway will be evaluated by Caltrans Geotechnical staff to determine if removal will be necessary.  A temporary barrier is being placed along the eastbound shoulder of the highway.

Eastbound traffic will be affected due to the lane closure and holiday traffic.

Caltrans urges the motoring public to use caution, be patient and to PLEASE "Slow for the Cone Zone."

Caltrans is a department within the Business, Transportation and Housing Agency that operates and maintains California's transportation system under the direction of Secretary Sunne Wright McPeak and Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.  For more information about the department, please visit its Web site at www.dot.ca.gov.  Information about the Business, Transportation and Housing Agency is available on the Internet at www.bth.ca.gov.
