LONG-TERM PROJECTS

 

State Route 20 (Nevada County) Work continues on a $36.3 million project to upgrade the roadway to current safety standards.  Improvements include standard eight-foot shoulders, left-turn access at various locations, improved drainage, eastbound passing and truck-climbing lanes, construction of two bridges and realigning the highway in two locations between Mooney Flat Road and Melody Road.  Completion is expected in the fall of 2008. 

           

            May 12 - 16

On State Route 20 between the Yuba/Nevada County line and Pleasant Valley Road:  Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. (2 p.m. Friday) Monday through Friday.  A contractor is scheduled to do embankment, drainage and erosion control work.

 

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) at Foothill Oaks Boulevard: Work continues on a $45 million project to add a new interchange at this location.  Completion is expected in the fall of 2008.

On U.S. Highway 50 from Shingle Spring Road to Greenstone Road: Motorists can expect a full highway closure with delays of up to 15 minutes between 5:30 a.m. and 8 a.m. Sunday morning for blasting.

 

May 5 – 10

On U.S. Highway 50 from Shingle Spring Road to Greenstone Road: Motorists can expect various east and westbound lane closures from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. (7 a.m. Saturday) Thursday through Saturday.  A contractor is scheduled to do electrical work.

 

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) at Missouri Flat Road just west of Placerville: Work continues on an $18.4 million project to replace the existing Missouri Flat Road over-crossing, widen Missouri Flat Road and improve the Missouri Flat Road intersection.  Completion is expected in the winter of 2008.

On U.S. Highway 50 from the El Dorado over crossing to the Vietnam Veteran’s Bridge: Motorists can expect various lane and ramp closures from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. (8 a.m. Sunday & Saturday) Sunday through Saturday.  A contractor is scheduled to do miscellaneous construction work.

           

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from the Placerville Drive on-ramp to east of Bedford Avenue: Work is underway on a $35 million project to improve U.S. Highway 50 through central Placerville.  Completion is expected in the fall of 2009.

On U.S. Highway 50 from the Ray Lawyer over crossing to the Clay Street under crossing: Motorists can expect various east and westbound lane closures from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. Sunday through Saturday.  A contractor is scheduled to do underground utility work.

On U.S. Highway 50 at the westbound Placerville Drive off-ramp: Motorists can expect a full ramp closure from 9 p.m. to 9 a.m. Sunday through Saturday.  A contractor is scheduled to do miscellaneous construction work.

On U.S. Highway 50 at the eastbound Placerville Drive on-ramp: Motorists can expect a full ramp closure from 9 p.m. to 9 a.m. Sunday through Saturday.  A contractor is scheduled to do miscellaneous construction work.

On U.S. Highway 50 at Bedford Ave.: Motorists can expect the east and westbound #1 lane closed from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. Sunday through Saturday.  A contractor is scheduled to do miscellaneous construction work.

 

Interstate 80 (Placer County) at Gold Run: Work continues on a $3.4 million construction project to rehabilitate the east and westbound Gold Run Safety Roadside Rest Areas.  Work includes removal of the existing buildings and construction of new buildings, and renovating informational kiosks.  Completion is expected in 2009.  No traffic interfering work is anticipated.

 

Interstate 80 (Placer County) from Rainbow to Kingvale: Work has begun on a $24.5 million major construction project to improve Interstate 80.  Work includes repaving the existing roadway with Portland Cement Concrete, rehabilitating existing drainage systems, improving the lighting system at the chain-on/off areas, resurface bridge decks with polyester concrete, and replacing bridge concrete barriers.  Completion is expected in 2010.

 

            May 12 - 15

Interstate 80 (Placer County) from Rainbow to Kingvale: Motorists can expect various east and westbound lane and shoulder closures from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday.  A contractor is scheduled to do miscellaneous construction work.

Interstate 80 (Nevada County) from Soda Springs to Donner Summit:  Work continues on a $65 million major construction project to improve Interstate 80.  Work includes repaving the existing roadway with Portland Cement Concrete, reconstructing failed sections of roadway, replacing metal beam guardrail, rehabilitating existing drainage systems, and realigning and improving an existing curve.  Completion is expected in 2010.

 

            May 11 - 17

On Interstate 80 from Donner Summit to just west of the Soda Springs exit: Motorists can expect westbound traffic to be detoured and crossed over onto the eastbound lanes of the freeway 24 hours a day.  East and westbound traffic will be separated by a concrete barrier.  The detour is necessary for the demolition and replacement of the Castle Peak Bridge and will remain in place throughout the 2008 construction season.

On Interstate 80 from Soda Springs to the Donner Summit Rest Area: Motorists can expect the eastbound #1 lane closed from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday.  A contractor is scheduled to do miscellaneous construction work.

On Interstate 80 at the westbound off-ramp to Soda Springs: Motorists can expect a full ramp closure from 6 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. Monday and from midnight Tuesday through 7:45 a.m. Friday.  A contractor is scheduled to do miscellaneous construction work.

On Interstate 80 at the westbound Donner Summit Rest Area: Motorists can expect a full ramp closure from 8 a.m. to noon Friday.  A contractor is scheduled to do miscellaneous construction work.

 

Interstate 80 (Nevada County) from Donner Lake to Donner Pass Road in Truckee:  Work has begun on a $71 million major construction project to improve Interstate 80.  Work includes repaving the existing roadway with Portland Cement Concrete, reconstructing failed sections of roadway, adding new drainage systems, upgrading existing drainage systems, construction of a westbound truck-climbing lane from Donner Pass Road to the Donner Lake Interchange and construction of a new sediment/debris collection system.  Completion is expected in 2010.

On Interstate 80 from Donner Lake undercrossing to the Trout Creek undercrossing: Motorists can expect the westbound #2 lane closed starting at 6 a.m. Monday through 10 a.m. Friday.  A contractor is scheduled to do miscellaneous construction work.

On Interstate 80 from the eastbound on-ramp from Donner Lake to the eastbound off-ramp to Donner Pass Road: Motorists can expect the eastbound #1 lane closed from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day, Monday through Friday.  A contractor is scheduled to do miscellaneous construction work.

 

 

SHORT-TERM PROJECTS

 

State Route 20 (Nevada County) from the Yuba county line to the Interstate 80 junction: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday.  A Caltrans crew is scheduled to do miscellaneous maintenance work.

 

State Route 20 (Nevada County) in Grass Valley at the eastbound off-ramp to Brunswick Road: Motorists can expect both shoulders closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.  A contractor is scheduled to do underground utility work.

 

State Route 20 (Nevada County) in Nevada City at the Broad Street overcrossing: Motorists can expect various east and westbound lane closures from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.  A contractor is scheduled to construct curb ramps.

 

State Route 28 (Placer County) in Tahoe City from Private Drive to Lardin Way: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. (noon Friday) Monday through Friday.  A contractor is scheduled to do underground utility work.

 

State Route 28 (Placer County) from Estates Drive to the Nevada state line: Motorists can expect various east and westbound lane closures from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday.  A contractor is scheduled to do underground utility work.

 

State Route 49 (El Dorado/Placer Counties) in Cool from the State Route 193 junction to the Bear River Bridge: Motorists can expect various north and southbound lane closures from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday.  A Caltrans crew is scheduled to do miscellaneous maintenance work.

 

State Route 49 (Nevada/Yuba Counties) from the Placer County line to Marysville Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday.  A Caltrans crew is scheduled to do miscellaneous maintenance work.

 

State Route 49 (Placer County) from the Interstate 80 junction to Bell Road: Motorists can expect various north and southbound lane closures from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Saturday.  A contractor is scheduled to do paving.

 

State Route 49 (Placer County) from Live Oak Lane to Kemper & New Airport Road: Motorists can expect various north and southbound lane closures from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Saturday. A contractor is scheduled to construct a turn pocket.

 

State Route 49 (Sierra County) in Downieville from Lure to Shangri-la:  Motorists can expect one-way traffic control 24 hours/day Sunday through Saturday.  A contractor is scheduled to do shoulder repair work.

 

State Route 49 (Yuba/Sierra Counties) from Marysville Road to the Yuba Pass Summit: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday.  A Caltrans crew is scheduled to do miscellaneous maintenance work.

 

State Route 49 (Yuba/Sierra Counties) from Camp Pendola Road to Ramshorn Tract Road: Motorists can expect various lane closures from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.  A contractor is scheduled do drainage work.

 

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) just east of Pollock Pines from the PG&E canal to Forest Road: Motorists can expect the westbound #2 lane closed starting at midnight Tuesday, May 13 through midnight Saturday, May 24.  A contractor is scheduled to do slide repairs.

 

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from 35 Milestone Road to 36 Milestone Road: Motorists can expect the westbound #1 lane closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.  A contractor is scheduled to do underground utility work.

 

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Pyramid Creek to the Nevada state line: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.  A Caltrans crew is scheduled to do miscellaneous maintenance work.


U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) in South Lake Tahoe from Trout Creek to Lake View Ave.: Motorists can expect the eastbound #2 lane closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.  A contractor is scheduled to do underground utility work.

 

Interstate 80 (Placer County) from the State Route 193 junction to Gold Run: Motorists can expect various east and westbound lane closures from 7 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday.  A Caltrans crew is scheduled to do miscellaneous maintenance work.

 

Interstate 80 (Placer/Nevada Counties) from Weimar to Farad: Motorists can expect various east and westbound lane closures from 7:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Monday through Thursday.  A Caltrans crew is scheduled to do bridge repairs.

 

Interstate 80 (Placer County) at Three-Mile Grade: Motorists can expect the westbound #2 lane closed from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday.  A contractor is scheduled to do miscellaneous construction work.

 

Interstate 80 (Placer County) from Magra to Eagle Lake Road: Motorists can expect various east and westbound lane closures from 7:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Monday through Thursday.  A Caltrans crew is scheduled to do miscellaneous maintenance work.

 

Interstate 80 (Placer County) from Laings Road to the State Route 20 junction: Motorists can expect various eastbound lane closures from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.  A contractor is scheduled to repair shoulders.

 

Interstate 80 (Placer County) from Yuba Gap to Kingvale: Motorists can expect various east and westbound lane closures from 5:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday.  A Caltrans crew is scheduled to do miscellaneous maintenance work.

 

Interstate 80 (Nevada County) from Kingvale to Donner Lake: Motorists can expect various east and westbound lane closures from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday.  A Caltrans crew is scheduled to do miscellaneous maintenance work.

 

Interstate 80 (Nevada County) from the Truckee River Bridge to the Boca Bridge: Motorists can expect the eastbound #1 lane closed 24 hours per day starting Monday at 7 a.m. through noon on Friday.  A contractor is scheduled to do guardrail work.

 

Interstate 80 (Nevada County) from Farad to Floriston: Motorists can expect the westbound #2 lane and right shoulder closed from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.  A contractor is scheduled to clean ditches.

 

State Route 89 (El Dorado County) from Luther Pass to Eagle Falls Campground: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.  A Caltrans crew is scheduled to do miscellaneous maintenance work.

 

State Route 89 (El Dorado County) from1 Ring Road to Rubicon Drive: Motorists can expect the north and southbound #1 lane closed from 7:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Monday through Thursday.  A Caltrans crew is scheduled to do crack sealing.

 

State Route 89 (Nevada County) from the Placer County line to Interstate 80: Motorists can expect a long-term closure of the northbound #2 lane from midnight Thursday, May 1 through 11:45 p.m. Monday, June 30.  A contractor is scheduled to do miscellaneous construction work.

 

State Route 89 (Nevada County) from the Placer County line to Interstate 80: Motorists can expect various north and southbound lane closures from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday.  A contractor is scheduled to do underground utility work.

 

State Route 89 (Placer County) from the State Route 28 junction in Tahoe City to Twin Crags Drive: Motorists can expect the north and southbound #1 lane closed from midnight to 1 p.m. Monday and Tuesday.  A contractor is scheduled to fill potholes.

 

State Route 89 (Sierra County) from Wilson Lane to the Westside Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 7 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Monday through Thursday.  A Caltrans crew is scheduled to do shoulder work.

 

State Route 174 (Nevada County) from the Placer County line to the State Route 20 junction: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday.  A Caltrans crew is scheduled to clean ditches.

 

State Route 174 (Placer County) in Colfax from Main Street to the Bear River Bridge: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.  A Caltrans crew is scheduled to do miscellaneous maintenance work.

 

State Route 193 (Placer County) at Taylor Road: Motorists can expect a long-term northbound right shoulder closure from midnight Thursday, April 10 through 11:45 p.m. Saturday, May 17.  A contractor is scheduled to do utility work.

Lanes are numbered from the center divide (#1) to the shoulder (#2, 3, 4, etc.).
