Interstate 80 Ramps at Soda Springs Closed Next Week

Soda Springs - The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is alerting motorists the westbound Soda Springs on-ramp and the eastbound Soda Springs off-ramp on Interstate 80 will be closed at specific times next week.

The westbound Soda Springs on-ramp will be closed 24 hours a day starting at 6 a.m. Monday, April 28, through noon, Friday, May 2.  The eastbound Soda Springs off-ramp will be closed 24 hours a day starting at 6 a.m. Tuesday, April 29, through 8 a.m. Friday, May 2.

The closures are necessary to remove failing asphalt and base material of the ramps.  New base material will be added and the ramp will be repaved in preparation for the application of Portland Cement Concrete at a later date.

The above work is part of a $65 million dollar project to rebuild a segment of Interstate 80 just east of Donner Summit, replace the bridges at Castle Peak and widen the outside westbound lane and eastbound shoulder near the Boreal Ski Area Exit.  The project is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2009

Motorists are advised to use caution when traveling through the work area, and to “Slow For the Cone Zone”.
