Inquiry: In section 10-1.17 Clear and Grub states that all woody debris less than 8 inches in diameter to be shredded and stockpiled as directed by the engineer. My questions are.
1)Is this material to be stockpiled onsite or will it be hauled to a offsite location. 2) If it is to be a offsite location what is the haul distance and what is the access for truck for dumping. Is traffic control needed 3) Will the logs 8" and over be property of the state or the contractor 4) If 8" logs and bigger property of the state will it be the contractors responsibility to move these logs to the top of slope for loading, and the contractor be responsible for loading and hauling and if so where will logs be hauled to |

Inquiry:
We have three questions regarding the Erosion Control (Type D) and Erosion
Control (Netting) specified for this project:
1) The first question is in reference to the project drawing pages ECD-1 (Erosion Control Details)and ECD-2 (Erosion Control Details and Erosion Control (Netting)). On page ECD-1, the Erosion Control (Netting) is shown as being placed over Erosion Control (Type D) in the Typical Cross Section view. On page ECD-2, the Erosion Control (Netting) is shown being placed with the top of the netting buried as part of slope construction in the Isometric Erosion Control Netting on Slope view. Which is correct? As an erosion control subcontractor, we wouldn't be able to install the Erosion Control (Netting) during geosynthetic reinforced embankment construction. Only the general contractor doing this part of the work would be able to do the installation. 2) The specifications for Erosion Control (Type D) under section 10-1.21 in the special provisions indicate that Erosion Control (Type D) shall be applied over Erosion Control (Netting) while the drawing on ECD-1 (Erosion Control Details) show the Erosion Control (Netting) installed over the Erosion Control (Type D). Which is correct? 3) The specifications for Erosion Control (Type D) under section 10-1.21 in the special provisions indicate that Erosion Control (Type D) materials shall be applied hydraulically to the Erosion Control (Netting) areas. The 2nd application (straw application) of Erosion Control (Type D) cannot be applied hydraulically. Does this mean that the straw application is excluded from the Erosion Control (Type D) application "over" Erosion Control (Netting) areas? Please clarify. The specifications and drawings for both Erosion Control (Type D) and Erosion Control (Netting) are contradictory and confusing and may lead to potential conflicts at time of installation in the field. |

1. Erosion Control Details sheet ECD-1 is correct. For netting placement refer to Specification "Erosion Control (Netting) under INSTALLATION paragraph A.Responses to questions 2 & 3 are being looked into and are pending. |

Inquiry: The job is only 120 tn and is requireng the new section 39 specification. This new specification requires a test strip and other techneical QC requirements. Being that the job so small will we be allowed to pave under the old section 39 method spec? |
