Inquiry: On page 147 Order of work it shows temporary K railing and crash cushions to be secured in place before work is to start. There is not a detail or anything showing on the plans or bid item for these two.

It is not anticipated that K-rail or Crash Cushions will be used on this project. The references cited are boiler plate mandatory language required in all contract specifications in the event the Contractor chooses to use these items in lieu of other safety requirements, at their own expense and no additional cost to the State. |

Inquiry: This question is in reference to Specification Section 10-1.15 EROSION CONTROL (TYPE D) under the Seed table on page 170. There is no minimum percent germination listed for Bromus carinatus (California brome). What is the minimum percent germination required? Baccharis pilularis (Coyote Brush) is listed as requiring a minimum germination percentage of 74%. Industry-standard rates for minimum germination for Baccharis pilularis (Coyote Brush) is around 40%. Is the 74% percent minimum germination for Baccharis pilularis (Coyote Brush) correct? Finally, under the seed table, an asterisk indicates that "Seed (shall be) produced in California only." There are no corresponding asterisks in the seed table for the six seed species listed. Are all the specified seeds to be produced in California only? |

Inquiry: Does the 3000 Yards of excavation need to be hauled off, or can it stay? |

Response: The material will need to be hauled away. However, there is a concern regarding the quantity amount stated in the inquiry. From the Q-1 sheet, EARTHWORK table, the quanity of material to be hauled away is: 523.8 m3 + 46.3 m3 - 0.3 m3 = 569.8 m3 or 745.3 CY. |
