The SR-22 Soundwall Project
Project Description:
The California Department of Transportation
(Department) is leading the effort to design and construct
seven soundwalls on SR-22.
Just days after funding approval of
the Governor's Traffic Congestion Relief Program (TCRP)
from the California Transportation Commission (CTC),
the Department worked very closely with the Cities of
Garden Grove and Westminster to obtain public consensus
on features of proposed soundwalls.
With funding now available, the SR-22
Soundwall project development process was accelerated
to provide noise attenuation at the earliest possible
time for residents and schools neighboring SR-22.
We are pleased to announce that careful
planning and hard work have given excellent results,
meeting the commitment of the Department to the community
for start of construction in July 2001.
The first of the soundwalls has been
awarded to Marco Z Technology Company on June 25, 2001
for the construction of the wall between Springdale
overcrossing and Valley View Westbound off ramp. The
remaining walls are on schedule and are anticipated
to be awarded by January 2002, with construction completion
by December 2002.
