State Planning & Research Grant (SPR) to Develop Cost-Benefit Tool for Evaluating Park and Ride Lots
The Regional & Public Transportation Branch which oversees the operation and development of the District Park and Ride Program in Orange County, was recently awarded a Federal SPR Grant for their Cost-benefit Analysis of Park and Ride/Intermodal Strategies within the State Highway System in Southern California proposal.
SPR Part I Planning funds are used by Caltrans to fund planning activities mandated by federal and state law. All SPR activities must meet federal eligibility criteria and be included in an annual work program approved by the Federal Highway Administration.
This project proposes to develop an assessment tool for quantifying benefits and costs associated with park and ride lot development within the State Highway System in Southern California. The project limits include Orange, Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino, Imperial, and San Diego Counties. This will include a review of existing literature, development, and funding processes along with a survey of Park and Ride Coordinators to determine strengths and weaknesses of existing programs, and suggestions for improvement.
