I-5 Closed Intermittently at Genesee Avenue for Bridge Work
SAN DIEGO ––Interstate 5 (I-5) will be closed at Genesee Avenue in one direction intermittently tonight and Thursday night from 11 until 5 in the morning, while workers remove temporary construction structures on the bridge..
Northbound I-5 will be closed intermittently on Wednesday and southbound I-5 on Thursday.
During the closures, motorists will be detoured to the Genesee Avenue off-ramp, across the intersection, and then to the on-ramp to reenter I-5. Directional signage will be placed to assist motorists through the detours
Motorists traveling south on I-5 wanting to use the State Route 56 local bypass on Thursday night will be detoured to southbound Interstate 805 then westbound State Route 52.
The I-5 Genesee Avenue Interchange Project will widen bridge over the highway and highway access ramps, add an auxiliary lane in the northbound direction on I-5 between Genesee Avenue and Roselle Street, and construct a new, separated bicycle/pedestrian path.
