Rock Blasting Planned Near SR-76 and Old Highway 395
SAN DIEGO –– Construction crews working on the State Route 76 (SR-76) East Segment will close SR-76 at the intersection of Old Highway 395 for approximately one hour at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, to conduct a rock blasting operation. The rock blasting is being done as part of SR-76 East Segment Project to widen and realign the highway to meet present and future traveling needs in the growing North County inland region.
The blasting will create a brief but loud sound and vibrations in the area. Motorists are advised to plan their travel accordingly. The blasting schedule is subject to change due to weather conditions.
During the blasting operation, Caltrans crews will establish a safety perimeter at Old Highway 395. As a precaution, the nearby Park & Ride lot will closed and then reopen after the operations. Park & Ride users should park in the temporary lot located at the southeast corner of SR-76 and Old Highway 395, and take the shuttle to the regular bus stop at the northeast corner of the intersection.
The East Segment is the final segment in a series of three improvement projects to the SR-76 corridor located between Interstate 15 (I-15) and I-5. The East Segment stretches 5.2 miles from South Mission Road to I-15 and serves local, intraregional, and interregional traffic.
