Sanyo Avenue Closed Nights
SAN DIEGO – Crews will close Sanyo Avenue in both directions between Airway Road and Otay Mesa Road for five consecutive nights beginning Sunday, according to Caltrans. The closures will take place from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. to remove bridge falsework as part of Segment One of the State Route 11/Otay Mesa East Port of Entry Project.
Northbound Sanyo Avenue traffic will be detoured east on Airway Road, north on Enrico Fermi Drive and west on Otay Mesa Road. Southbound Sanyo Avenue motorists will use the same detour route in the opposite direction.
The SR-11/Otay Mesa East Port of Entry Project will help relieve traffic congestion and shorten wait times at the Otay Mesa and San Ysidro ports of entry. The cost of Segment One is $112 million and is expected to be completed at the end of the year.
Project information is available on the Caltrans website at www.dot.ca.gov/dist11/facts.
