Nighttime Closure on Southbound I-805 in Golden Triangle
SAN DIEGO –– Construction crews will close southbound Interstate 805 (I-805) from Interstate 5 (I-5) to La Jolla Village Drive/Miramar Road on Sunday from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m., according to Caltrans. The closures may continue on Monday and Thursday nights, during the same hours, as needed. The work is part of bridge widening activities to accommodate new carpool lanes along I-805.
Motorists will be detoured around the closure to southbound I-5, then eastbound on State Route 52 (SR-52) to northbound or southbound I-805.
Stage 1 of the I-805 North Express Lanes Project is constructing one carpool lane in each direction in the median of I-805 from just north of SR-52 to just north of Mira Mesa Boulevard. The project includes construction of a Direct Access Ramp to and from southbound I-805 at Carroll Canyon Road. Bridge widening and ramp modifications are additional improvements. The construction cost for Stage 1 is about $86 million and is funded with state, federal and local sources, including the Proposition 1B State – Local Partnership Program and TransNet Extension funds.
