Enrico Fermi Drive in Otay Mesa Closed Monday and Tuesday Nights
SAN DIEGO –– Caltrans announced that crews will close Enrico Fermi Drive from Otay Mesa Road to Airway Road for two consecutive nights beginning Monday at 9 until 5 in the morning. The closures are needed to relocate utilities related to construction on the State Route 11 (SR-11) Otay Mesa East Port of Entry Project.
Detour signs will be posted directing motorists through Sanyo Avenue as follows:
Travelers driving on northbound Enrico Fermi Road will be directed to westbound Airway Road to northbound Sanyo Avenue to Otay Mesa Road.
Motorists on Otay Mesa Road will be directed to southbound Sanyo Avenue, to eastbound Airway Road to southbound Enrico Fermi Drive.
The SR-11/Otay Mesa East Port of Entry Project will help relieve traffic congestion and shorten wait times at the Otay Mesa and San Ysidro ports of entry. The cost of Segment One is $112 million and is expected to be completed at the end of the year.
Project information is available on the Caltrans website at www.dot.ca.gov/dist11/facts
