Portion of Southbound I-805 Closed Tonight and Thursday
SAN DIEGO –– Construction crews will close southbound Interstate 805 (I-805) between the Interstate 5 (I-5)/I-805 merge to La Jolla Village Drive tonight and Thursday from 9:30 until 5 in the morning, according to Caltrans. Also closed tonight during the same hours are three of the four northbound lanes.
The closures are necessary for rebar delivery for the widening of the northbound I-805 bridge over Carroll Canyon and the installation of falsework, a temporary bridge support system used during bridge construction.
Motorists will be detoured to southbound I-5, then eastbound on State Route 52 to northbound or southbound I-805.
Stage 1 of the I-805 North Express Lanes Project will construct one carpool lane in each direction in the median of I-805 from SR-52 to Mira Mesa Boulevard. The project also includes construction of a Direct Access Ramp to and from southbound I-805 at Carroll Canyon Road. Additional improvements include bridge widening and ramp modifications. This stage is estimated to cost $86 million.
