Monday Traffic Shift on Southbound SR-163/Clairemont Mesa Boulevard Intersection

SAN DIEGO –– Major traffic shifts and new signal lights are in store for motorists at the newly installed southbound State Route 163 (SR-163)/Clairemont Mesa Boulevard Intersection beginning early Monday morning, according to Caltrans.

Motorists on westbound Clairemont Mesa Boulevard will be shifted to the left lane instead of the right and should be prepared to stop at the signalized intersection to enter southbound SR-163.  An addition signal light will be placed east of the Kearny Mesa Road intersection.

The southbound SR-163 off-ramp to eastbound Clairemont Mesa Boulevard has been reconfigured ahead of its previous location. Motorists will be shifted to the left lane and should be prepared to stop at the new signal light before turning left onto eastbound Clairemont Mesa Boulevard.

Caltrans and the City of San Diego have partnered on the SR-163/Clairemont Mesa Boulevard Interchange Project to reconstruct the westbound Clairemont Mesa Boulevard on-ramp to southbound SR-163, mirroring the east side of the configuration.  Clairemont Mesa Boulevard will be widened to six lanes between the bridge and Kearny Mesa Road.  The city of San Diego funded this $11 million project.  Construction began this spring and will be completed in summer 2016.
