Night Closures Planned on Interstate 8/Harbison Canyon To West Willows Road
SAN DIEGO –– Crews will close a portion of eastbound Interstate 8 (I-8) between Harbison Canyon Road and West Willows in east San Diego County beginning Sunday from 8 p.m.-5 a.m. through Thursday, according to Caltrans.
Crews will also close one lane of westbound I-8 before West Willows Road from 7 p.m.-5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday. The closures are needed for work on a pavement repairing project. Detour signs will be posted alerting motorists to the construction in the area and possible delays.
Ramps that will be closed during the evening work from 7 p.m.-5 a.m.:
- Eastbound I-8 on-ramp from Dunbar Lane/Harbison Canyon;
- Westbound 1-8 off-ramp to Dunbar Lane/Harbison Canyon;
- Westbound 1-8 off-ramp and on-ramp Tavern Road and;
- Westbound 1-8 off-ramp and on-ramp West Willows Road.
The $9 million project will replace pavement and guard rails, improving motorist safety and roadway. Construction is expected to be completed by December.
Motorists are reminded to Be Work Zone Alert and to Move Over a lane when safe to do so, or slow when highway workers are present with amber lights flashing.
