SR-54 Connector to Northbound I-805 Closed Tuesday Night

SAN DIEGO –Crews will close the State Route 54 (SR-54) eastbound and westbound connector ramps to northbound Interstate 805 (I-805) in National City on Tuesday from 7 p.m.-5 a.m. to place temporary safety barriers, according to Caltrans.

Signs will be posted detouring motorists on westbound and eastbound SR-54 to southbound I-805, to Bonita Road east, to the northbound I-805 on-ramp.

Partial closures of southbound I-805 between 43rd Street and SR-54 will occur during the same time period and on Wednesday night.

The southbound on- and off-ramps at East Plaza Boulevard and the southbound on-ramp at 43rd Street will also be closed on Wednesday night.

The work is part of the first phase of the I-805 South Express Lanes Project, a $1.1 billion effort to create a modern, new transportation backbone that will meet the future needs of travelers in the region. When finished, the project will offer new transportation choices, relieve traffic congestion, and improve the quality of life in South County.
