I-805 Night Closures in National City

SAN DIEGO – South Bay motorists should expect lane and ramp closures in both directions of Interstate 805 (I-805) between 43rd Street and State Route 54 (SR-54) in National City through January. Closures will be scheduled Sundays through Thursdays, 7 p.m.-5 a.m. as needed to install temporary concrete safety barriers and for roadway restriping.

A partial closure of southbound I-805 between 43rd Street and SR-54 is set for Wednesday for restriping activities.  The southbound on- and off-ramps at East Plaza Boulevard will also be closed.

The SR-54 eastbound and westbound connector ramp to northbound I-805 will be closed Thursday to install temporary concrete safety barriers.  Northbound I-805 from SR-54 to 43rd street will be partially closed as well.

Detour signs will be posted to guide motorists around the closures.

The work is part of the first phase of the I-805 South Express Lanes Project, a $1.1 billion effort to create a modern, new transportation backbone that will meet the future needs of travelers in the region. When finished, the project will offer new transportation choices, relieve traffic congestion, and improve the quality of life in South County.
