GSA to Close Three Lanes of Southbound I-5
SAN DIEGO – Motorists heading to Mexico next week can expect traffic delays as work continues to modify the San Ysidro Port of Entry (POE).
The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) will close the far three left lanes of southbound Interstate 5 just north of the POE starting Sunday at 10 p.m. through Friday at 6 a.m. This continuous closure will likely create traffic congestion en route to Mexico at both the San Ysidro POE and the alternative State Route 905 to Otay Mesa POE.
Caltrans has placed portable Changeable Message Signs on southbound I-5 and Interstate 805 to notify motorist about the lane closure.
Motorists are reminded to slow down and safely move over a lane when Caltrans or other emergency vehicles are displaying flashing amber lights. It’s the law!
