State Route 94 Pavement Projects Underway

SAN DIEGO – Caltrans would like to express regret to motorists for the late notice advisory on a pair of pavement improvement projects that have been in the planning stages for years, and have already started on State Route 94 (SR-94).

The first project replaces the top layer of asphalt pavement with a new rubberized asphalt pavement on SR-94 from State Route 54 (SR-54) to Marron Valley Road. The $13.4 million dollar project was awarded to Granite Construction Co. and is anticipated to be completed in about one year.

The second project awarded to Hazard Construction at an estimated cost of $1.2 million, will place a pavement seal from Marron Valley Road to State Route 188 (SR-188), and is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

These two projects on SR-94 from SR-54 to SR-188 will provide drivers with smoother rides and extend the life of the pavement. Construction work must be done during daytime hours as cooler night temperatures will not work due to the temperature sensitivity of pavement curing.

One-way traffic control is in place and may result in traffic delays. Caltrans thanks motorists for their patience during construction.
