Caltrans Closes Clairemont Drive for Emergency Weekend Work
SAN DIEGO –The Clairemont Drive on- and off-ramps for northbound and southbound Interstate 5 (I-5) will be closed this weekend for emergency maintenance on the bridge deck, according to the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans).
Caltrans will begin the closures Saturday at 3 a.m. to Monday at 5 a.m. Construction crews will also close Clairemont Drive from the Morena Boulevard overcrossing west to Mission Bay Drive. Pedestrians and bicyclists will have access to the bridge during this closure.
Changeable Message Signs will be placed on both northbound and southbound I-5 advising motorists to detour to the SeaWorld Drive off-ramp for access to Mission Bay Park.
Westbound motorists on Clairemont Drive will be detoured to Denver Street to access Morena Boulevard and follow the signs to the I-5 on-ramps.
Caltrans warns that it may become noisy at times and those walking or biking near the construction site may notice an odor from the resin material used on this project. Every precaution will be taken to lessen the impacts to area residents.
