Hovley Road Opens, Brandt Road Closes on Monday

SAN DIEGO –Crews will open Hovley Road Monday at noon revealing the new Hovley Road/State Route 78 (SR-78) intersection, according to the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans). Motorists should be aware that new stop signs have been installed at the intersection on Hovley Road.

Later that afternoon, crews will close Brandt Road from just north of Gardner Road to just south of Fredricks Road on proposed State Route 78 (SR-78). The road will open in about three months when construction of the intersection in that location is complete.

Signs will be posted detouring motorists around the Brandt Road closure as follows:

Detour northbound Brandt Road to Gardner Road west, to Kalin Road north, to Andre Road east to Brandt Road.
Detour southbound Brand Road to Andre road west, to Kalin Road south, to Gardner Road east to Brandt Road.

Both closures are part of the $236 million SR-78/SR-111 Brawley Bypass Project that is expected to be finished this fall. The project connects SR-111 and SR-86 and completes the expressway from the U.S.-Mexico border to Riverside County.
