Interstate 15 Closed Wednesday and Thursday Night at Poway Road/Rancho Peñasquitos Boulevard
SAN DIEGO – Southbound and northbound Interstate 15 (I-15) will be closed Wednesday night and Thursday night, with detours in place, at the Poway Road/Rancho Peñasquitos Boulevard bridge, according to the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans). The closure will be in place each night from 11:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.
Motorists traveling north on I-15 during this time will be detoured east on Poway Road to north on Sabre Springs Parkway to west on Ted Williams Parkway onto northbound I-15. Motorists traveling south on I-15 will be detoured west on State Route 56 (SR-56) to east on Rancho Peñasquitos Boulevard to southbound I-15.
Concurrently, the eastbound and westbound SR-56 connectors to southbound I-15 will be closed. Motorists traveling on SR-56 to southbound I-15 will be detoured via Rancho Peñasquitos Boulevard onto southbound I-15.
These closures will allow construction crews to continue work on the bridge as part of the I-15 Express Lanes Project. This bridge work will be noisy but it has to be done at night to avoid disrupting daytime traffic. For more information on the I-15 Express Lanes project, call the project information hotline at (866) 890-1397 or log-on to www.KeepSanDiegoMoving.com.
