Several Ramps on I-5 and I-805 in the South Bay Closed for Night Work

SAN DIEGO – Beginning Sunday evening the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will close several on- and off-ramps on Interstates 5 and 805 in the South Bay. Construction crews will be working on various ramps in both directions from just north of the San Ysidro Port of Entry to J Street in Chula Vista. Work will begin nightly Sunday through Thursday between the hours of 8 and 9 p.m. with no ramp opening later than 5 a.m. the following morning.

Consecutive off-ramps on northbound Interstate 5 between Main and Palomar streets will be closed. Crews will place a Changeable Message Sign in advance of this closure.

Motorists encountering a closed on- or off-ramp will be detoured on the freeway to the next immediate ramp then turned around back to their desired direction.

Construction crews will be doing pavement work at the closed ramps and some will be open before 5 a.m. For additional information contact the Caltrans Public Information Office at (619) 688-6670.
