Full Closure of Eastbound I-8 Scheduled Sunday Night

SAN DIEGO – All eastbound lanes on Interstate 8 (I-8) will be closed between Second Street and Greenfield Drive this Sunday night. The closure will begin at 9 with all lanes closed by 10 and reopening at 6 Monday morning.

According to the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), highway construction crews will restripe the lanes to open a third eastbound lane.

The primary detour will be to exit I-8 at Second Street, turn right onto southbound North Second Street, left onto eastbound East Main Street, right onto eastbound Greenfield Drive, cross under the freeway and turn left onto eastbound I-8.

The secondary detour will be to exit at Second Street, turn left onto northbound North Second Street, right onto eastbound Broadway, left onto eastbound East Main Street, right onto eastbound Greenfield Drive and left onto eastbound I-8.

Changeable Message Signs will be placed in advance of the work and detour signs will assist motorists around the closure.
