Southbound Interstate 15 Lanes To Close in Escondido
SAN DIEGO – The southbound lanes of Interstate 15 (I-15) from 9th Avenue to Centre City Parkway in Escondido will be closed beginning Sunday, Oct. 9, at midnight to Monday, Oct. 10, at 4:30 a.m., weather permitting.
This is the first of five closures along this stretch of the I-15 over the coming days. The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will use these closures to install large overhead signs that span the width of I-15.
Detours will be posted to assist motorists through the closures. For this first one, motorists traveling on southbound I-15 will exit at 9th Avenue and head east. They will then turn south on Centre City Parkway to reach southbound I-15.
Caltrans will provide updates for each upcoming closure.
This is one of the last major construction activities on the North Segment of the I-15 Express Lanes Project. The North Segment is a four-mile stretch that runs from Centre City Parkway to State Route 78 (SR-78). Once completed in December, there will be 20 consecutive miles of express lanes on I-15 from SR-78 to State Route 163.
For more information on this closure or the entire I-15 Express Lanes project, call the project information hotline at (866) 890-1397 or log-on to www.KeepSanDiegoMoving.com.
