I-805 La Jolla Village Drive/Miramar Road Closures
SAN DIEGO – This weekend, the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) and the city of San Diego will be closing the southbound off-ramps from Interstate 805 (I-805) to westbound La Jolla Village Drive and Eastbound Miramar Road beginning today at 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday. Motorists will be detoured south to Governor Drive, then back north on I-805 to the La Jolla Village Drive/Miramar Road off-ramp.
Beginning July 25 through July 29, crews will close the northbound or southbound lanes of I-805 at La Jolla Village Drive/Miramar Road from 12 a.m. to 5 a.m. Motorists will be detoured to the off-ramp, the back onto then on-ramp to the freeway. Only one direction will be closed at one time.
Changeable Message Signs and detour signs will be posted for both closures.
The $19 million project will convert this interchange into a half diamond and remove the cloverleaf configuration. The work includes the removal of two of the existing loop ramps, removal of two collector distributor roads, and the widening of La Jolla Village Drive to four lanes in each direction to relieve congestion onto the freeway. The project is expected to be completed in summer 2012.
Highway work is one of the most dangerous jobs in America. Move Over for highway workers. It’s the law.
