Caltrans Worker Killed in the Line of Duty
SAN DIEGO – A Caltrans maintenance worker was struck by an errant vehicle while working this afternoon along eastbound Interstate 8 near the Sunbeam Rest Area.
The incident took place at about 1:30 p.m. The employee, whose identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, died at the scene. The driver of the vehicle was taken to a local hospital.
Caltrans will provide additional information as it becomes available.
