Delays to Interstate 5 in Carlsbad Expected
SAN DIEGO – The California Department of Transportation is working with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) to inform motorists that delays are expected on some of the on-ramps to Interstate 5 in the city of Carlsbad and the connector ramps to and from State Route 78 on Friday from 9 - 10 a.m.
The closure is needed for the funeral procession of California Highway Patrol pilot Dan Benavides, who was killed in the line of duty on Friday, May 7. Motorists traveling through the area already on I-5 should not experience any delay. On-ramps to I-5 at northbound Las Flores Drive and southbound Cassidy Street will be closed during this time. Motorists on SR-78 should expect delays for access to northbound and southbound I-5.
