Northbound Interstate 15 Closed for Four Nights at Poway Road/Rancho Peñasquitos Boulevard
SAN DIEGO – Northbound Interstate 15 (I-15) will be closed for four nights and a detour in place beginning Monday at the Poway Road/Rancho Peñasquitos Boulevard bridge, according to the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans). These closures were supposed to take place earlier this week but were not implemented because of weather delay.
The closure will be in place from 11:30-4:30 each night, and will allow construction to continue on the bridge as part of the I-15 Express Lanes Project.
Motorists traveling north on I-15 will be detoured east on Poway Road to north on Sabre Springs Parkway to west on Ted Williams Parkway onto northbound I-15. Detour signs will be in place to direct motorists.
The Poway Road/Rancho Peñasquitos Boulevard bridge over I-15 will also be closed beginning at 9 each night and reopening at 4:30 the next morning. Motorists traveling west on Poway Road will be detoured north on I-15 to west on SR-56 onto eastbound Rancho Peñasquitos Boulevard or westbound Carmel Mountain Road. Motorists traveling east on Rancho Peñasquitos Boulevard will be detoured south on I-15 to east on Mercy Road to north on I-15 onto eastbound Poway Road. Detour signs will be in place to direct motorists.
Bridge construction may cause noise but must be done at night to minimize disruptions to the weekday commute. For more information on the I-15 Express Lanes project, call the project information hotline at (866) 890-1397 or log-on to www.KeepSanDiegoMoving.com.
