Southbound Interstate 15 Closed Two Nights at Poway Road/Rancho Peñasquitos Boulevard
SAN DIEGO – Southbound Interstate 15 (I-15) will be closed for two nights and detours will be in place beginning Sunday at the Poway Road/Rancho Peñasquitos Boulevard bridge, according to the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans). The closure will be in place on Sunday night from 12:00 a.m. to 4:30 a.m. and on Monday night from 11:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.
Motorists traveling south on I-15 will be detoured west on State Route 56 (SR-56) to east on Rancho Peñasquitos Boulevard to southbound I-15. Concurrently, the eastbound and westbound SR-56 connectors to southbound I-15 will be closed. Motorists traveling on SR-56 will be detoured via Rancho Peñasquitos Boulevard onto southbound I-15. Detour signs will be in place to direct motorists.
These closures will allow our crews to erect temporary support beams necessary to continue reconstructing the south side of this bridge as part of the I-15 Express Lanes Project. Bridge work may be noisy but must be done at night to avoid disrupting daytime traffic.
