Westbound Valley Parkway Reduced to Two Lanes Under Interstate 15
SAN DIEGO – Westbound Valley Parkway will be reduced from three lanes to two at Interstate 15 (I-15) in Escondido on Thursday at 9 p.m. and will remain in this configuration until freeway bridge widening work is completed in early 2011, according to the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans).
The inside lane of this surface street will be removed and a temporary concrete barrier will be placed to allow crews to continue work to widen the inside portion of the bridge. This widening work is necessary to make room for four new Express Lanes in the median of the freeway.
During this timeframe, motorists may experience increased traffic congestion on westbound Valley Parkway. Caltrans thanks motorists for their patience as this work is critical to the I-15 Express Lanes project. Motorists are encouraged to take alternate routes to help save time and avoid frustration. For more information on the I-15 Express Lanes project, call the project information hotline at (866) 890-1397 or log-on to www.KeepSanDiegoMoving.com.
