Night Work Scheduled for Interstate 8
SAN DIEGO – Beginning tonight California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will be removing bridge falsework on Interstate 8 over East Main Street and Broadway in El Cajon. The work will take place nightly for the remainder of the workweek from 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. A full closure of East Main Street and a partial closure of Broadway are required.
Motorists on East Main Street will be detoured around the closure by following the posted signs. Motorists on Broadway will have to stop and then will be flagged through once it is safe. Wait times should exceed more than 3 minutes.
The work is part of the $9.5 million Reduce the Wait on I-8 Project that is scheduled to be complete in late 2012.
