Temporary Detour on Interstate 8 At Brock Research Center Drive in Winterhaven
SAN DIEGO – Motorists traveling on westbound Interstate 8 in Imperial County will be temporarily detoured around a full closure spanning one half mile in either direction of Brock Research Center Drive in Winterhaven beginning Thursday morning at 5, according to the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans).
A detour in the opposite direction will begin next Thursday or Friday depending on how construction progresses.
Crews will be installing a water pipeline in this four-month portion of the Drop 2 Storage Reservoir Project sponsored by the U.S. Department of the Interior’s Bureau of Reclamation.
Motorists should be aware that the posted speed limit along the newly constructed detour has been reduced to 60 mph. No travel delays are expected.
