Delays Expected Tonight on Interstate 5 Southbound
SAN DIEGO – Motorists should expect delays tonight on southbound Interstate 5 while crews close all but one lane from just north of Manchester Avenue to south of the San Dieguito River Bridge beginning at 9 and reopening by 5 on Tuesday morning, according to the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans).
“By 11 p.m. four of the five lanes will be closed to traffic,” said Caltrans spokesperson Edward Cartagena. “We urge people to avoid the area if possible or to seek alternate routes such as Coast Highway 101 to reach their destinations.”
Changeable message signs will be placed in advance to alert motorists of the closure.
